A sculptor needed an extension to her house for a small atelier.
The breath of creation expanded the house, filled now with her tools and work. New space for work attached to the kitchen, two ovens, archive, receive clients, serve as showroom and workshop area within the farm compound.

This elastic need grew from a new door opened in the kitchen, was subjected by the upper south skylight, that drops in the wall, enters the space and pushes the north limit wall out and exits through a cascade of light creating the 'lightfall' window frame from where Belinha will work overlooking the garden.

The tactile and rough character of the site is mirrored in the building method, rural and man made with a team of 3: the builder Marco, his father-in-law and a young helper.  As the rocks and sections along the coasts and cliffs of  Azores, isolated in a remote part of middle island, textures will be assumed in its crude finishing outside with continous and curving pouring marks of the single daylong concrete fill, glowing then inside, as a repository of a rich and elevated softly telling treasure. Refracting its miraculous dreams and stories to come, treads from a future salvation, a warm and pacified smile from a past doom. A present, certain and quiet gem.
