VOYAGE TO THE BEGINNING OF THE WORLD

The viewpoint at Vista do Rei at the rim of Sete Cidades volcano is the epitome of the forces of nature at the utmost epic and sublime.

The view to the inner lakes, one green another blue has enriched the local folklore for centuries.

Also the view at the south shore of the Island, the city of Ponta Delgada and all the settlements along the shore help to explain not only the natural formation of the islands, with volcanic explosions and lava canals gaining new land to the ocean but also the enduring difficulties and resilient appropriation men has made during the centuries in order to survive.

This survival tale is told here using nature's algorithm of the prismatic disjunction made by the sudden encounter of lava with the ocean, solidifying in geometric patterns, found all over the Azores and mostly in caves along the shores.

At the postcard #1 of Azores it is only fair that one can be able to enjoy and perceive this ancient natural game of formation with the utmost comfort and the least disruption of the environment. As the brief asked: "as if nothing was there made and touched by men before".
This landscape has seen much transformation with too visible men-made structures in the last decades.
It is time to reverse into a philosophy of respect, built understatement and celebration of nature.
A new visitors front room for Azores with a vision from the interior of the earth.
A voyage to the beginning of the world.
